About Us

Founded in 2012, Safe Haven Recovery Care specializes in top-quality home care and mental care services to the elderly with a compassionate and healing approach rooted in expertise. In addition to providing geriatric case management, the agency offers a recovery program for individuals suffering with drug and alcohol addictions. These specialized services are also available to non-elderly individuals.

We are here to provide custom tailored care you can trust from a skilled staff of professionals focused on your specific needs. Trust in our agency to offer the best in community and in-home services.

How to Get Started?

Step 1: Consultation

The process begins with a free consultation where a care manager visits the home to determine how Safe Haven Recovery Care can assist individuals with their day-to-day needs. This is a critical step in the process, giving our agency an opportunity to get to know prospective clients on a personal level.

Step 2: Assessment

The assessment involves a staff nurse and case manager working together to formulate solutions to help individuals remain independent as they deal with mental and/or physical challenges. Based on this evaluation a care plan is created specifically for the client.

Step 3: Service

Our agency carefully selects a trained and qualified staff member to provide care for the client then an introduction is scheduled between a client and caregiver to establish familiarity and comfort. After the initial meeting, the client gives final approval before service begins.

Mission

Our goal is to be the top provider of choice in Connecticut for home and community based services, where the needs of our clients take priority. Through innovative and resourceful programs, we empower individuals with the will to live independently because their well-being matters to us.

“A true healthcare professional is a caregiver who believes in quality care and goes the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of the people they serve.”

Emmanuella Marie Valme, MHA, CCM
Executive Director

Since I could remember, I have always enjoyed helping others. I am a people person who listens intently to the problems of others and help them find solutions. My passion and desire originates from a genuine wish to make a positive difference in the lives of the individuals I serve. Although, we are born completely dependent on others for all our care needs in the initial stages of our life, as we grow, we develop a genuine sense of identity, creativity, autonomy and uniqueness which becomes completely our own. Every individual has the potential to provide something unique and beneficial to the community in which they are a part. However, due to a variety of factors not everyone is able to make that contribution due to various barriers such as social oppression or exclusion. I want to play a role in empowering members of the community to take action for themselves and fully integrate into society.

As the Executive Director, my number one priority is to assist every client on their road to recovery. My personal motto: “A true healthcare professional is a caregiver who believes in quality care and goes the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of the people they serve.”

Kristin Cefalu

HR Coordinator/Recruiter

staff-kristinEver since I can remember, there has been a special place in my heart to want to help others. I believe my passion stems from the direct personal experiences that I have encountered throughout my life. Many of these experiences have made me into the devoted and compassionate professional I am today.
As a former educator of over fifteen years, I have had the pleasure of making a difference in many peoples’ lives, in turn giving me immense gratitude. My dedicated and compassionate nature has motivated me to want to inspire others to give back and be passionate to those in need.
As a hiring associate I have learned the importance of providing top-quality care to clients. Clients depend on their caregivers for daily support and assistance. Therefore, it is important that every caregiver understands this need and delivers it accordingly. My number one goal as the HR coordinator is to hire Top-Quality Staff and to ensure every caregiver is up-to-date on their trainings and all client needs and complaints are addressed immediately. We believe that the road to recovery begins with a well trained staff.

Stephanie Louissaint, RN
Associate Director (New York office)

staff-stephanieMy love and passion for people started at a young age. Both of my parents are healthcare professionals and for as long as I could remember, I have been a part of the healthcare world. As a young child, I was always at my mother and father’s feet in the hospital where they worked. I knew then this was going to be a career path for me. My father was the chief medical director of a hospital and my mother was the Charge Nurse. For many years I watched them care for others in a passionate and kind way. Their patients loved them and my parents knew each one on a first name basis. This gave me the motivation I needed to follow in their footsteps and make a difference in the lives of others as a caregiver. I have worked as a caregiver for over 15 years in Canada where I became a registered nurse. In my experience as a caregiver, I realize there is no joy better than helping others as they recover.

Brad Gay, CM
Director of Case Management

staff-bradI started in direct care in 2006 and have been a case manager for more than 10 years. The call to serve others has always been strong. That is, simply stated, where my passion stems. Early on in life, I recognized a number of occasions when I was shown unconditional kindness and encouragement. The seed was planted.
When I began as a direct care worker, I knew that it was the start of following my heart. Along the way I met many individuals, both administrators and residents, who brought enlightenment and pure joy.

Over the years, I have worked with a variety of talented people; chairing meetings of interdisciplinary teams, including but not limited to state case management employees, auditors, behaviorists, case quality specialists and families.
As the director of case management, I work to not only ensure the highest level of personal development for staff, families, and the individuals we serve, but to act as an advocate and caregiver.

Guerdine Saint. Juste, LCSW

Director of Clinical Operations

staff-guerdineFor as long as I could remember I have always been in a position to help others around me. I find great passion in giving back to those in need of my assistance and I enjoy being able to do so. As a clinical director, I wish to address the Clinical needs of the client. The geriatric patient’s clinical needs are often pushed to the side. Just because they are in this phase of their life (geriatrics), does not mean they experience or deal with less hardships. Life is ongoing regardless of the stage.

Delores Wisdom
Associate Director

staff-deloresCompassionate, dedicated and innovative; a few of my unique qualities that enables me to enjoy working with people in general, especially older adults. While working as a Program Coordinator for a senior volunteer program, I came to realize how important it is to seniors to stay active, give back to their communities and gracefully age in the comfort of their own home. Also inspired by their diverse experiences, I discovered a deeper meaning of the phrase “aging in place”. So naturally I wanted to be a part of this movement and help to empower seniors to live independently through customized, quality care. As a former education professional with over fifteen years’ experience, I developed an eagerness to always explore my potential, so it was easy to transfer my knowledge and well-developed skill set to a field that compliments my personality and passion to help others. As an Associate Director, I aspire to use Safe Haven’s compassionate, therapeutic approach to make every client’s needs my priority, providing top-quality care through well-trained professionals.
